Sergio Leal, Class XL

Sergio Leal is an international anticorruption and white collar attorney based in Houston, Texas with significant experience building anti-corruption compliance programs for publicly traded corporations.

As a member of Ericsson’s Legal & Compliance team, Sergio is the Head of Compliance for North America and M&A activity worldwide. Previously, Sergio was the Chief Compliance Officer of Layne Christensen Company and he began his legal career as a civil and commercial litigator at Baker Botts LLP.

Sergio is a proud native Houstonian, and he began his leadership journey as Student Body and Student Council President of Lamar High School. Since then he's held various community and professional leadership roles and currently serves as the Chair of Family Houston, a 120 year-old non-profit organization providing mental health, basic needs, and financial/employment coaching to thousands of Houston-area residents. Additionally, Sergio is the Immediate Past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston and he is a member of the Economics Advisory committee of the University of Texas at Austin, the International Law Section of the Houston Bar Association, Class LX of the American Leadership Forum, and a fellow of Leadership Houston's Class XL (THE BEST CLASS EVER!) . Starting in the Fall of 2023, Sergio will be an adjunct professor at Thurgood Marshall School of Law teaching anti-corruption and compliance law.

Sergio is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Columbia Law School, and he is raising three wonderful children with his beautiful wife, Adrea.
