LEADERSHIP HOUSTON, INC. OVERVIEW
Leadership Houston is a 501(c)(3) organization that was formed in 1982 with the goal of bringing together leaders from different communities to increase dialogue and foster collaboration on projects that would improve the quality of life for all Houstonians. The founders’ vision was to expose these leaders to civic issues they may be unaware of and inspire them to expand their involvement within the community. The mission of Leadership Houston is to enlighten, empower, and engage diverse community leaders through a broadened knowledge of Houston and increase their civic leadership capacity for the benefit of Greater Houston and its stakeholders. To date, over 2000 alumni have completed Leadership Houston’s Signature Program.
SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator position requires a high level of conceptual thinking, analytical skills, flexibility, and initiative to achieve professional and program goals with minimum supervision. Leadership Houston, Inc. offers an entrepreneurial culture, a small office environment, and flexibility in work locations. The Program Coordinator position directs all alumni programming to develop community leadership skills. Responsibilities fall into four main areas and may change as the organization grows. Each area has specific metrics to identify the expected level of performance.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000
Simple IRA: 2% Contribution
Gasoline Reimbursement: $100/month

PROGRAM COORDINATOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Provide high-quality programming to positively connect alumni, organizations, and the community positively.
Enhance the image and visibility of Leadership Houston, Inc. and support the organizational efficiency and effectiveness of Leadership Houston, Inc.
Manage alumni program budget and increase revenue to sustain and grow programming.
Increase organizational effectiveness by evaluating and continuously improving alumni programming.
HIGH-QUALITY PROGRAMMING RESPONSIBILITIES
Alumni Program Planning
Develops, implements, and executes strategic plans for Leadership Houston’s alumni program that are driven by civic engagement, innovation, continuous improvement, and clear measures of success through education and volunteerism.
Coordinates symposiums and summits in partnership with the Board of Directors and alumni to support the organization’s mission and vision.
Leads ongoing program planning, management processes, and progress monitoring structures to assess alumni program outcomes.
ENHANCE THE IMAGE AND VISIBILITY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting/Communications
Communicates proactively and effectively.
Manages the organization’s website (Squarespace) and collaborates with the Executive Director and the Director of Development and Outreach to ensure there is alignment in communicating program information.
Effectively manages Leadership Houston’s social media accounts, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, to support the Signature Program, Alumni Program, and Fundraising/Development efforts.
Outreach
Develops and nurtures relationships with LH alumni, community partners, and corporate sponsors to ensure collaboration and that alumni program outcomes are aligned with Leadership Houston’s strategic goals.
Effectively leads meetings with alumni and community members to promote Leadership Houston alumni programs.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Alumni Program Budget
Manages program expenditures to maximize resources and understands the budget.
Grants/Sponsors
Collaborates with the Executive Director and the Director of Development and Outreach to identify potential sponsors for alumni program events.
ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS RESPONSIBILITIES
General
Serves as an active member of the Leadership Houston team by representing the alumni program and ensuring alignment between the programs of Leadership Houston.
Builds trust with the organization and staff members to foster a collaborative culture.
Engages with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in coaching and feedback conversations.
Displays ownership and responsibility of key metrics and focus areas.
Engages in continued professional development around knowledge and skills needed to lead the alumni program effectively.
Completes other duties as assigned in a timely and professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
College degree and some non-profit experience preferred.
Strong self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Conscientious work ethic, with the ability to be highly dependable, reliable, and punctual, with regular attendance.
Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects concurrently.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is not limited to a desk; the Program Coordinator may conduct meetings and events offsite and be on his/her feet for prolonged periods before, during, and after leadership events.
